Hat Tip to Boycott Mormon Businesses:

This video makes an important point that goes beyond the Mormons. Churches don't have to make any financial disclosures to the IRS or the general public. Anyone who thinks that churches are run honestly should really start asking questions.

  2. For years, I've advocated for churches to be taxed. Besides their getting involved in politics, they use public services like fire & police protection, street repair, water and sewer systems. I used to live in Pittsburgh and I saw a report (20 or so years ago) that half of the property in the city was tax exempt (schools, hospitals, churches, government buildings and more.) That means you and I are paying twice our share to keep a city running. Now I live in a town of about 2000 people (700 households.) There are 6 churches in town that don't pay a penny in taxes. Those churches serve the town's religious citizens (not me), but also serve people from rural areas who don't pay taxes to my town. So, I say, let their donations to the church pay the taxes.

Of course the irony is, that the Mormons are supporting marriage between ONE man and ONE woman ---and weren't they the ones who used to support polygamy? Oh, the hypocrisy!

  4. And we've all seen, up close and personal, what happens when ANY agency is allowed to do whatever it wants to do without any outside scrutiny.

I agree that ALL churches should pay taxes and be made to have an open-book policy when it comes to their finances.

Over and above all that, the Mormon church in particular should be branded as the criminals they are and should have the book thrown at their heads.
