Whenever someone tells me that the apocalypse or the second coming or whatever end of the world scenario suits them is at hand, I like to make bets with them.
"I'll bet you ten thousand dollars that the world is not going to end in December of 2012," I say, or something like it.
It's a win for me in either case. If the world doesn't end, I win the bet and if the world does end, I can't be made to pay up.
