Why isn't Sarah Palin facing a criminal investigation?

 

A few years ago, I got on the email list of the fringe right publication, Townhall Magazine, when I posted a comment on one of the blogs hosted on their website. I still get their emails. Many of them are trying to sell questionable investment advice, and many others give one insight into what the fringe is up to.

In the climate that exists in the aftermath of Sarah Palin's terrorist attack in Arizona, one would hope that the far right would tone down its rhetoric. They haven't toned it down much. They have sent out an inflammatory email with the title "Who are the Most Dangerous Liberals?" Get a load of this garbage they are using to sell their magazine.

Every conservative knows that liberals are working hard every day to recreate this country in their own image, tarnishing our great history and the hard-working people who live here. While some of the faces of the Left are too clownish to be taken seriously (see Keith Olbermann) others shy away from the limelight in order to push their agenda from behind a veil. Those people are some of the most dangerous liberals that threaten our way of life. Not to take away from some of the more obvious liberals, like the Barack Obamas and the Barney Franks of the world, there are many who push the leftwing radical agenda.

In the latest issue of Townhall Magazine we have identified the top 50 most dangerous liberals in America. We also have exposed their secret agendas, some as devious as any threat to the United States. Below are a few snippets from the list. Take a look and then get Townhall Magazine today!

Phrases like "tarnishing our great history" (note barely veiled racism), "threaten our way of life," and "secret agendas, some as devious as any threat to the United States" would have merely elicited laughter before the right's shooting spree in Arizona. But, now I realize that this kind of menacing rhetoric must be taken seriously. People get all riled up by this bullshit, and all it takes is something like Sarah Palin's gun target map to get the most militant to start shooting.

Two of the three people mentioned as "dangerous liberals" in the email actually are quite conservative, Barack Obama and Jon Stewart. When even people as far to the right as those two are branded as "dangerous liberals," this shows that very few public figures are immune to the dangerous rhetoric of the absolutist and sometimes eliminationist right. Oddly enough, the ad makes the unstable political extremists buy the magazine to find out the full list of people that they should hate and be terrified of.

This is really dangerous.

 

Let's review the facts that no one can honestly dispute:

1) Sarah Palin put out a terrorist gun target map which was a deliberate set of instructions to shoot and kill members of Congress.

2) Sarah Palin is directly and personally responsible for the shootings in Arizona.

3) It is physically impossible to defend Sarah Palin without endorsing the terrorist attack in Arizona and gloating over what was done to the victims.

Yet, neo-Nazi Daily Beast commentator Howard Kurtz did just that. He defended Sarah Palin and attacked people who have enough honesty and integrity to acknowledge Sarah Palin's involvement in the shootings.

What a sick fuck!

No decent human being could defend Sarah Palin after what she has done. This isn't about left or right. It's about human decency and patriotism. Every moral, loyal, honest American is blaming that traitor Sarah Palin for the shootings because everyone, regardless of ideology, knows for a fact that Sarah Palin directly caused this to happen.

(Ordinarily, I would link to the offending article, but I refuse to ever link to another article by a neo-Nazi like Howard Kurtz again. I also refuse to link to or visit the Daily Beast until that terrorist loving Nazi is fired. I will not drive traffic to hate sites on the Web.)

Sarah Palin must be held accountable for what she has done.

 

Ann Coulter isn't the only vicious, extremist Ann on the far right. Another evil Ann is the fringe right blogger Ann Althouse. Althouse has done all sorts of hateful and evil things in the past. But, this time, she has gone to sickening extremes.

In her deceptively titled, Should We Succumb to the Temptation to Engage in Political Rhetoric, Making Generalizations From the Shooting of Congresswomen Giffords, Althouse plays sleazy rightist politics with a terrorist attack incited by Sarah Palin.

Althouse is perfectly aware of the fact that these shootings are the direct result of Sarah Palin's terrorist gun target map. Yet, Althouse plays shoot the messenger by calling people who state this fact "louts" who are "chewing up the wounded flesh in the meat grinder of political rhetoric."

Althouse even goes on to lie about the nature of what happened.

First, you might want to resist because it's the right thing to do not only out of respect for the dead and wounded but also because Jared Loughner is probably just a crazy guy whose acts say nothing about anybody else.

Bullshit! Everyone knows for a fact that Loughner was acting on the instructions given on Sarah Palin's terrorist map.

It's time for people on the right to stop the spin and the politics. It's time for them to be Americans first and political ideologues later. It's time for all patriotic Americans to denounce Sarah Palin and for all patriotic Americans to demand the long overdue criminal investigation of Sarah Palin's terrorist map and other inciting rhetoric.

 

As you may be aware of by now, Congressmember Gabrielle Giffords has been shot. Thus far, Ms. Giffords has survived, but a federal judge and a nine year old child were murdered in this terrorist attack.

Towelroad, like a number of blogs, is reporting the fact that Ms. Giffords is one of the Democrats on Sarah Palin's infamous gun target poster.

Sarah Palin already should have been facing a criminal investigation for that incitement to terrorism and act of treason. Now, there is no excuse. Palin must be arrested and prosecuted for this. Anyone who objects to this is a terrorist enemy of America.

Every cable network should drop Palin. Every bookstore should stop selling Palin's books so she can not profit from her acts of terrorism.

 

I know, you are shocked....absolutely flabbergasted.

In her TLC show Sarah Palin's Alaska, the former GOP vice presidential nominee is seen opening cupboards in search of chocolate, marshmallows and graham crackers, asking "Where are the s'mores ingredients?"

"This is in honor of Michelle Obama, who said the other day we should not have dessert," Palin said.

Palin has not been shy expressing her views on the first lady's initiative. In an interview with conservative radio host Laura Ingraham, Palin said Obama "is telling us she cannot trust parents to make decisions for their own children, for their own families in what we should eat."

The morbid irony of this is that Palin's irresponsible babbling could actually help the Democratic Party in the long run if her sheeple take it seriously. Democrats and Independents don't listen to her at all. So, the only people whose behavior might be influenced by the egomanical Ms. Palin are rightist Republicans.

If enough other Goppers join her in this babblethon, they could lower the life expectancies of Republicans. The other obnoxious rightist Ann (Althouse), has joined in. So have Faux News, NewsBusters, and the bizarrely named Weasel Zippers.

There already is a stereotype in our society of Republicans being morbidly obese. If Republicans go out of their way to live up to that stereotype, it will be the undoing of many of them.

You may wonder how rightist books get on the bestseller lists, especially since most rightists don't read much. One way that this often happens is that a far right multimillionaire will buy thousands of books to get them on the bestseller lists. Some of the bestseller lists are on to that and ignore the mass single buyer purchases or give those books asterisks in their listings.

Well, another method is becoming common in putting books on bestseller lists: offering them free as incentives for joining an extreme right organization or subscribing to an extremist publication. A while back, I wanted to comment on a right blog, so I had to register for Townhall's bullshit emails. It can get annoying, but it gives a really instructive look on the right's noise machine.

Let's face it. Sarah Palin had a humiliating election defeat in her own home state, Alaska. Her teabagger acolyte, Joe Miller, lost badly to write ins for incumbent Senator Murkowski, who Miller defeated in the GOP primary. There still is some chance that Miller might sneak into office on technicalities like spelling errors on write in ballots, but those will be the tricks of lawyers, not the will of the people.



Even worse for Sarah Palin is the fact that Ms. Murkowski and the Senator's family have been political rivals of the Wasilla grifter. That must really sting for a egomaniac like Palin.

It also is pissing off her supporters.

The far right blog, Politico, had a posting on the election results in Alaska. There was nothing particularly interesting or distressing about the posting, but the comments were some of the most vicious things I've ever read about real people online. (People tend to be freer to say the most incredibly hateful things about fictional characters, especially the ones on soaps.) I ordinarily wouldn't run things like this, especially considering the misogyny of some of them, but I think it really is important to show the amazing degree of hatred and fanaticism that Sarah Palin and the teabagger scam have incited among the right fringe. (I should note that the worst comments that were there when I originally saw the article have been deleted by the administrators.)

Under normal circumstances in the real world this bitter, selfish entitled queen would be shunned. But we are talking Washington and to keep the GOP numbers up they will offer this lying nag some power position to keep her in the GOP fold. Poor Joe Miller won the primary but takes the bitter medicine in the end!

There is strong sense that Murkowski is a traitor, a turn coat, a bad sport. She asked for Republican support, didn't get it, and lost the primary and now she demands Republican leadership? Maybe she ought o switch party.

Murkowski, (with the emphasis on the "kow") is the RINO Nancy Pelosi, a lying, cheating, back-stabbing ***** who will do anything underhanded to keep her seat in Congress because she feels entitled. The weirdest thing is that the Palinbots agree with Murkowski on at least 99% of the issues. The only issue I'm aware of where Murkowski isn't an absolute wingnut is abortion, where she is pro choice. In fact, Murkowski is Big Oil's and Big Coal's point person in the Senate in efforts to sabotage Global Warming legislation.

The rampant racism among the teabaggers has gotten a lot of coverage on the left, but their heterosexism has yet to get the attention it should. Sarah Palin's Mini Me in Delaware, Christine O'Donnell was a vocal homophobe and was a press spokesperson for the venomously homophobic "Concerned Women for America." CWA was, and still is, a militant Christian supremacist hate group designed for a membership of women but under the control of men.

Now, teabagger candidate Carl Paladino, a wealthy real estate speculator in Buffalo, is spewing heterosexist hate every chance he gets. On NY1, he is quoted saying these things in front of a group of orthodox rabbis.

"I just think my children and your children would be much better off and much more successful getting married and raising a family, and I don't want them to be brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality is an equally valid and successful option. It isn't," said Paladino.

The remarks came right after Paladino said it was time to stop pandering to "pornographers and perverts."

"I oppose the homosexual agenda, whether they call it marriage, civil union or domestic partnership," said the Republican candidate.

The fact that Paladino has a gay nephew makes his comments even more reprehensible. He should know better. Also, why is it that bigoted politicians always feel they have free reign to spew bigoted filth in front of orthodox rabbis?

Paladino couldn't stop there either. On the Today show, he spewed the following:

He said, however, that he took issue with the decision of his opponent, state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, to take his two daughters to a gay pride parade.

"I don't think it's proper for them to go there and watch a couple of grown men grind against each other. I don't think that's proper, I think it's disgusting," Paladino said.

Paladino doesn't complain about heterosexuals bumping and grinding, which they do all over TV and in public. What a hypocritical, bigoted jackass. I feel sorry for Paladino's family. That man is a horrible mess. I feel especially sorry for his nephew.

Not surprisingly, Paladino's bigotry is far from limited to hetersexism. From the Today show coverage:

Paladino, who apologized for forwarding racist and sexist e-mails early on in his campaign to replace Democratic Gov. David Paterson, was campaigning on Sunday through traditionally Jewish conservative neighborhoods of Brooklyn.

This is an important lesson. Bigotry is seldom limited to heterosexism. Racism, misogyny, and heterosexual supremacy all are part of an interlinked worldview, one which is pushed at us every day by the rich and the powerful. When queers on the right don't want LGBT organizations to support the struggles of other oppressed groups, they are furthering the oppression and violence that us queers face.

Another weird aspect of this is that Paladino's first audience was made up of militant, Jewish fundamentalists who encouraged Paladino's bigoted nonsense. Obviously, they have no sense of enlightened self interest. The vast majority of homophobes hate Jewish people too, even if they are less vocal about it. Anytime a politician says anything against queers, that should automatically raise red flags among anyone who isn't Christian.

3) Publicize and Support the Campaigns to Seize British Petroleum Or Revoke It's Corporate Charter

Offshore oil drilling always is incredibly negligent, carrying huge and unnecessary risks of spills. British Petroleum has been especially reckless in its conduct, resulting in over 8000 spill reports in the US alone. British Petroleum must be destroyed if we want to stop the cycle of offshore oil drilling, corporate greed, and spills.



 

The highest duty of any patriot is to work to make his or her country the best it can possibly. That represents the highest value of liberalism, and liberals have fought for generations to do just that. We need to ask ourselves something.

Are we still living up to this standard?

There are some rather unpleasant realities that very few people in our society want to face. There is very little difference between the politicians on matters of substance. Whether you are talking about Barack Bush or George W. Bush, Sarah Palin or Hillary Clinton, Newt Gingrich or Nancy Pelosi, you are talking about a set of politicians whose values and political agendas are almost identical. They vary in terms of style and the ability to coherently articulate positions, but they all have pushed for same substantive policies the overwhelming majority of the time. Those policies are overwhelmingly rightist.

Spectator sports and brand loyalty marketing have conned people all over the political spectrum into picking teams or selecting brands and obediently going with them without giving much thought to the whole process. Rationalization and denial have become national pastimes.

In the real world, the differnces between the Democrats and Republicans are no more meaningful than those between Coke and Pepsi, the Yankees and the Mets, Dodge and the former Plymouth, or the Patriots and the Jets. Yet, people beat their chests and root, root, root. During campaigns they buy, buy, buy.

The political discourse is poisoned by this not only in terms of substance, but also in terms of style. Having little important to disagree with from Democrats like Obama, Reid, and Pelosi, Republicans just keep getting nastier, more bigoted, and crazier.

Why are most liberals going along with this? Why aren't we questioning more? Why aren't most of us swing voters with a Green Party that agrees with us on the vast majority of issues? Why do so many on the left pretend that voting for the overwhelming majority of Democrats is anything but a wasted vote?

We need to start thinking critically and logically. We aren't helping ourselves or our country by going along with this rightist crap.

 

Barack Obama is a politician. Nearly all politicians lie. They do it rather often too.

One of President Obama's biggest whoppers in a December 2009 Washington Post interview when he said:

I didn't campaign on the public option.

Obama was repeating the White House spin on the subject. That talking point was already proven false on 9/10/09 by Jane Hamsher of Firedog Lake, who has been one of the most tenacious supporters for healthcare reform that actually includes reform.

Hamsher did the kind of real research that corporate media "reporters" seldom bother with. She actually looked at "Barack Obama's Plan for a Healthy America." This was part of the Obama campaign website which told us the specifics of his healthcare policies. Those of us who were trying to decide whether or not to support him in the primaries used this as a critical aspect of evaluating the candidate.

Here it is on Page 2, at the top (bolding mine to save you time).

The Obama plan both builds upon and improves our current insurance system, upon which most Americans continue to rely, and leaves Medicare intact for older and disabled Americans. The Obama plan also addresses the large gaps in coverage that leave 45 million Americans uninsured. Specifically, the Obama plan will: (1) establish a new public insurance program available to Americans who neither qualify for Medicaid or SCHIP nor have access to insurance through their employers, as well as to small businesses that want to offer insurance to their employees; (2) make available the National Health Insurance Exchange to help Americans and businesses that want to purchase private health insurance directly; (3) require all employers to contribute towards health coverage for their employees; (4) mandate all children have health carecoverage; (5) expand Medicaid and SCHIP to cover more of the least well-off among us; and (6) allow state flexibility for state health reform plans.

If you go through the document, you will find this public plan referenced in several other places.

It should also be noted that, in response to a candidate questionnaire from the Washington Post, he said that his plan included "a public health plan." (Hat Tip: Think Progress)

Why am I bothering to debunk a lie Obama told a few months ago? I keep seeing it as a talking point in blogs where people defending Obama whip it out without realizing that it already has been proven false.

When President Obama lied about not campaigning on the Public Option, he was being just as dishonest as Sarah Palin was when she made shit up about death panels.
